Delegate wants state funds out of Middle EastPublished 08/24/07
A county delegate plans to reintroduce a bill in the next session that would remove State Retirement and Pension System assets from companies doing business in Iran, Syria and North Korea.
Del. Ron George, R-Arnold, said the General Assembly has a responsibility to divest the approximately $1.7 billion Maryland has in those countries so the money is not helping nations designated by the federal government as state sponsors of terrorism.
