Gilchrest quirks will be missed, friends sayPublished 04/13/08
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Delaware Republican Rep. Mike Castle was holding a news conference in front of the Capitol a few years ago and noticed soldiers doing push-ups across the field. Then he saw a man take off his sport coat and join in. "I said 'What the heck is this?' And the guy got up and it was Wayne," Mr. Castle said. "Wayne" is his good friend and colleague, Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, R-Kennedyville, who was voted out of office in February after representing Maryland's 1st Congressional District for nine terms. The moment underscores for his friends what Mr. Gilchrest's loss will mean for the humanity of the House of...

...oh the hummanity - April 14, 2008
Will, you owe Wayne an appology. That was as bad a piece of journalism as I I have read this...week (I'm a subscriber to the Kapital). "He just SAT there and did push ups?? And "Holding unconditional talks with Iran is his main goal." Perfect! He can work with Dennis K, Jimmy C, and all those others who want to bring Sharia law to the Eastern Shore.

I Can't Help Myself - April 13, 2008
"...and noticed soldiers doing push-ups across the field. Then he saw a man take off his sport coat and join in." I've been working around the Capitol for 20 years now. I can tell you there is no and never has been a "field" in front of (I assume he means the East Front or "the steps" as they are known by journalists in Washington) The Capitol. The closest thing to a field is the Capitol's 'big backyard,' as Will would say, better known as the West Lawn.

This just in.... - April 13, 2008
ANNAPOLIS, MD - Nine-term Congressman Wayne Gilchrest was denied another chance to represent District 1 voters yet local media outlets cannot seem to locate any Republicans who may have voted against him. "This is an outrage." sobbed the usually cool Tony Caliguiri, Gilchrest's former campaign manager. Obviously, he implied, Gilchrest's drubbing in the polls must have been a result of voting irregularities. Despite the hard-nosed reporting by Capital News reporters, scouring the District for comments from Republicans who may have been disaffected by Gilchrest's admittedly liberal-leftwing-fanatic-leaning-yet-somehow-independent voting record over the past 18 years. The only "Republicans" that reporters can seem to find are those now openly supporting Democrat Frank Kratovil. When visited at his log cabin in Kennedyville, he reluctantly put down three books he was reading simultaneously to talk to reporters. "It doesn't matter to real Eastern Shore Marylanders whether you are Republican or Democrat or whether a voter voluntarily affiliates himself with a political party," he explained. "All that matters is that you are from the Eastern Shore and you embrace the philosophy of the Eastern Shore,"

What the...? - April 13, 2008
....heck was that? Behold Will Skowronki's last ...written thing that he will not have to pay someone to publish for him. It is difficult to determine which is more disturbing. That Mr. Skowronski has managed to pass himself off as a professional writer or journalist; that those quoted hold positions of power, or; that the Kapital would publish such a thing. Ridiculing this piece would be redundant. It is self-ridiculing. One cringes from sentence to sentence. My theory, just formulated, is that Mr. Skowronksi was dumpster diving in the alley behind a Baltimore publishing house, where he found manuscripts of the memoirs of Mike Castle and Wayne Gilchrest, stitched them together and put it on the CapitalNews wire.
