County bureaucrats have drawn up policies behind closed doors. They asked residents on an advisory panel - created last year in the wake of complaints about lack of citizen input - not to circulate any of the documents explaining ideas under consideration.

And while that citizen panel is encouraged to provide feedback, long-range planning administrator Lynn Miller told them last week: "We will review your comments and incorporate them as we...

BRAC Details - 2008-10-06 08:18:16

A little off subject but I relayed concerns about BRAC and FT Meade Growth in the Capital-Gazette papers and I received a response from Mr Mark Chang of the County Exec office and also heard from SHA. As a result I set up a meeting in Severn back in September and the public was invited. I want to thank Mr Bob Leib from the County Execs office for the presentation he gave to the citizens who showed up. Mr Leib did a fine job and I left the open forum with info I wanted to hear as did other who showed up. I?m sure you can contact the County Exec office and they will do the same for any group who has questions.

Why in heavens name did you not publish the draft plan like it is in the paper? So much for keeping citizens informed! There is really NO excuse for this.

GDP 2008 Communication - 2008-10-05 09:45:31

Greetings,
The Greater Crofton Council (GCC) regularly receives eMail attachments with GDP 2008 update reports and we're frequently referred to the GDP Web site for new information. In addition, the GCC's local GDP representative Anthony Savia attends GCC meetings and provides updates and seeks input. In fact, Mr. Savia and Councilman Jamie Benoit will be attending the October 14th GCC meeting to provide updates and seek input. I'm curious, if the theme of this article hints at the overall problem that's been writtien about so much in The CAPITAL recently and is the subject of numerous regional surveys and blog postings - what is the best way to communicate and how can citizens best participate in these topical processes? Sincerely, Art Huseonica, GCC President
