County Executive John R. Leopold has joked that BRAC really stands for Better Rely on Assistance from the County, a jibe aimed at state and federal legislators who he said have failed to provide Anne Arundel with money to cope with the strain that will come with a major job surge at Fort George G. Meade.
And that lack of funding will leave the county ill-prepared to handle the tens of thousands of jobs headed to the fort, he told a consortium of civic group leaders that met Friday morning.
"The bulk of the BRAC growth will hit in the next four to five years," Mr. Leopold said. "We're not going to be ready....
