County police say a new state law that requires booking officers to collect DNA from suspects in burglaries and violent crimes will help them to solve more cases. Beginning last week, anyone taken into custody for burglary and serious crimes such as arson, child abuse, abduction, and rape, is now required to submit a DNA sample upon arrest and charging. In the past, DNA samples had only been drawn from those convicted of violent crimes, said Elena Russo, a state police spokesman. Capt.
