ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland health advocates and lawmakers urged Gov. Martin O'Malley on Thursday to preserve a planned Medicaid expansion to low-income residents, but the governor said the state's budget problems could slow the plan's rollout. Find Us On Facebook
Lawmakers approved an expansion of Medicaid coverage to 100,000 low-income residents in the 2007 special session. So far, about 25,000 people have enrolled in the first phase of the expansion, which affects low-income children and their parents. A second phase would extend coverage to poor people who don't have children. Maryland has an estimated 800,000 uninsured...
