Council puts off changes to slots billPublished 04/21/09
The County Council last night delayed any potential changes to the bill that paves the way for a casino near the Arundel Mills mall, saying members preferred to have all councilmen at the dais before the issue is put to a vote.

Residents of neighborhoods near the Arundel Mills mall staged a protest in front of the Arundel Center Monday, opposing a bill under consideration by the County Council to allow a casino at the mall. "It's my belief that the full council should be here not only to vote on the bill, but also on the amendments pertaining to the bill," said Councilman Daryl Jones, a Democrat whose district includes the neighborhood that developers are eyeing for a 200,000-square-foot entertainment and gambling complex.
