Delay Monday openings, cut summer Sunday hours

Faced with an 11 percent budget cut, county libraries will slash their hours of operation, freeze salaries, reduce janitorial services and the number of security guards, and even limit new books and magazines, officials said yesterday.
Other significant changes include closing on Sundays during the summer and cutting Monday morning hours at many branches.
The Monday morning hours are fairly new to the library system, having started two years ago. But starting in July, 10 of the 15 branches won't open their doors until 1 p.m. on Mondays.
