While Rep. Frank Kratovil Jr. and state Sen. Andrew Harris gear up for a probable battle for the 1st Congressional District seat next year, Rep. Steny Hoyer has raised more than the two combined as he looks toward 2010 with no serious challenger in sight. Kratovil, the Democratic incumbent in the 1st District, had $503,819 cash on hand as of June 30, the most recent filing with the Federal Election Commission. Harris, a Republican, had $210,349.
