Political Notes: Climate group honors O'MalleyPublished 11/05/09
A Chesapeake Bay-focused environmental group yesterday honored Gov. Martin O'Malley for securing passage of a climate change bill earlier this year. The Chesapeake Climate Action Network gave its annual Climate Leadership Award to O'Malley, citing his leadership to enact a state law cutting the amount of carbon dioxide released into the air each year. The group said the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reductions Act "mandates the strongest economywide reduction in global warming pollution of any climate bill in the country." The award is the second time in two weeks an organization has recognized O'Malley for his work on the environment. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation on Oct. 23 honored O'Malley during the group's board of trustees meeting for the governor's work on BayStat, crabs, oysters and global warming. Dwyer fundraiserDel.
