Saving Money on Road Projects - 2009-11-13 08:34:01
One sure way to save money on road projects is to cut out unncessary road projects. One such unnecessary road project, which is a total boondoggle, is the $2 billion InterCounty Connector between I-370 in Montgomery County and U.S. 1 in Prince George's County. It is a total waste of money, it is an environmental disaster, it will spew exhaust fumes onto a senior living community (Leisure World) and nearby elementary school, and it will charge the highest tolls -- so high that no one, except Lexus owners, will use it. It will also NOT relieve traffic congestion off the the National Capital Beltway. It sucks up almost all Federal-aid highway funds that no other road project in the State can be built. We would save over $2 billion by eliminating this wasted project.

I have a great way to save money on roads.Stop workin on roads that obviously are in good shape.I cant begin to count how many times I've drive down a road that was in good shape and a week later theres orange cones every where and its now one lane.As for the widening of Baltimore-Washington Parkway between 695 and 195.What a waste of money and when will they ever get it done.I use that road eveyday and see them workin on it maybe 2 days a week.
