Don't bet on table games quite yet

The state's Video Lottery Facility Location Commission added its voice to the argument recently, submitting a letter to Gov. Martin O'Malley, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr., D-Calvert, and House Speaker Michael E. Busch, D-Annapolis, that said the governor and General Assembly may want to consider legislative action to approve table games in order to remain competitive for...

Huh? - 2010-02-28 18:05:00

Delaware is just falling apart since they have all that evil gambling & slots and such. Oh wait, we have Keno, Lotto, Powerball, Megamillions, Match 3, Match 4, Match5, Bingo, scratch-offs, etc. Not to mention alcohol, cigarettes, R rated movies, rock climbing, skiing, skydiving, scuba diving, flying and all the other dangerous activities that being an Adult allows me to partake in. Add to that the stress of being married, having children and a hectic job; its a wonder I have made it all this time.

It's not Government's job to guard me against myself, it's there to keep me from infringing on my neighbor. I don't gamble as a metter of course but for those who choose to it's their responsibility to manage it like they manage the rest of their life, not Government's responsibility to keep them away from someone's percieved evils.

Slots in MD - 2010-02-28 09:42:20

Let's vote on this again now that we know where these casinos are going to be located and that the plan is to include table games in the near future. This feels like a bait and switch move to me. "Save the horse racing industry in Maryland" has nothing to do with this. I feel I was duped by our leadership and they will pay in the next election.
Watch how many lives are ruined by gambling in the next twenty years. If this is how we plan to "fix" our financial problems I am ashamed to live in MD after 42 years here.
