Gov. Martin O'Malley announced yesterday that a special session of the General Assembly will be convened to decide new boundaries for Maryland's congressmen.
The redrawing of boundaries is required after the 2010 census.
The governor and General Assembly must use the census numbers to divide the state's population of 5.8 million people into eight congressional districts. An ideal district will have 721,529 people, but the districts can fluctuate above or below the ideal number by up to 1 percent.
