Perhaps the possibility that swimming might become a sanctioned varsity sport among Anne Arundel County public high schools inspired the competitors in last night's 14th annual county championship meet. No such promise has been made by the board of education, but the ongoing dialogue between the advocates of the idea and school board members makes the possibility greater than ever before. In any case, county swimmers mounted an assault on the meet record book last night.
