Spalding gets knocked into losers' bracket

Patrick Blair had been working on this play, just waiting for the right time to use it.

Blair stole home to give Calvert Hall a first-inning lead, and the Cardinals held on to take a 7-2 victory over Archbishop Spalding yesterday in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference semifinals.

With the bases loaded in the first inning and Blair on third, Cavaliers left-hander Paul DeVito pitched from the windup and threw a first-pitch strike to Joe Roback.
