Scharek takes helm for Spalding softballPublished 08/13/08
The Archbishop Spalding High School softball program prides itself on tradition. The culmination of the search for its new coach resulted in somebody that won't have to be taught that. Kristen Scharek, a former Spalding softball player and, most recently, an assistant varsity coach, was named head coach of the team by Spalding athletic director Lee Dove on Thursday. Scharek will take over for Paul O'Brien, who stepped down as coach in early June after leading the Cavaliers to the IAAM A Conference championship this past spring season.
