Saturday marked the opening of fall practices for public schools. For Severna Park football coach J.P. Hines, it was Christmas.
At 5:30 a.m., Hines sent out a text message that read: "MERRY CHRISTMAS 2008." And, in the middle of his first two-a-day workout, he bounced around his office like a 5-year-old overwhelmed by a mountain of gifts under the tree.
Broadneck football coach Jeff Herrick said nearly 150 players came out to Broadneck's first practice, and they're fighting to fill approximately 109 spots - 56 on varsity and 53 on junior...
