Gibbons' goal lifts SouthernPublished 09/06/08
Southern senior Jimmy Gibbons scored the only goal of the contest to lead the Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory over Atholton of Howard County in their first game of the season. Senior goalkeeper Pat Todaro made five saves, including a stop on a penalty kick to secure the shutout. Both teams played extremely hard, according to Southern coach Paul Daley, but it was Southern's defensive intensity that made the difference in the game.
