Tanner East scored off Zak Osbourn's pass in the 65th minute to lead Parkside to a 1-0 victory over Kent Island last night at Washington College for the Bayside boys soccer championship.
Nick Dilling made six saves, and Frankie Demma grabbed seven to lead Kent Island, which kept Parkside silent until late in the second half. But the Buccaneers struggled to connect deep in the Rams' third and failed to win the first Bayside title in their 11-year history.
"Our defense was doing the job, keeping them out of the box," Kent Island coach Jim Claborn said. "But it's tough to win when you only take eight shots, and they have 23."
