Archbishop Spalding's field hockey team was eliminated in the IAAM A Conference quarterfinals, 2-1, by Bryn Mawr yesterday.
Jess Bates scored the only goal in regulation for the Cavaliers, and Leyan deBroja made 13 saves through two overtimes.
Bates' goal, assisted by Kelsey Bonner, gave the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead at halftime. Paige Hanson tied the score in the second half, and the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie through two 10-minute overtime periods.
Bryn Mawr outscored Spalding, 4-2, in the shootout to earn the victory. In the shootout, the Cavaliers missed their first attempt, but converted on the second. Bryn Mawr took a 2-0 lead in the shootout after deBroja was called for using the wrong side of her stick to stop the second shot.
"Leyan did fantastic job. She made some great saves," Archbishop Spalding coach Leslee Brady said. "The whole team played great."

NOTRE DAME PREP 1, SEVERN 0: The Admirals were unable to come up with an equalizer after the Blazers struck 13 minutes into the second half of the IAAM A conference quarterfinals. The loss was Severn's third to the Blazers this season. Severn had several fast-break chances, but couldn't score. Severn goalkeeper Catie Kinlein had two saves in her final game.

ROLAND PARK COUNTRY 3, ST. MARY'S 2: Caitlin Crouse had a goal and an assist, but the Saints fell to Reds in the IAAM A Conference quarterfinals. Kaela Jarvis also scored a goal for St. Mary's (8-9-1).
