Prep Football: Broadneck runs past Northeast, VanMeter stars

Ron VanMeter ran for 101 yards on eight carries and scored three rushing touchdowns in the second quarter as Broadneck shut out Northeast last night, 38-0, and improved to 7-2.

Deontray Lee caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from James Mullis in the first quarter for the Bruins, and Cody Weese capped the scoring with a 1-yard run in the third quarter.

Broadneck quarterback Nick Storey went 3-for-3 passing for 71 yards, while Darren Costa completed 11-of-21 passes for 66 yards for Northeast.

SOUTH RIVER 21, CHESAPEAKE 0: Blane Kleinrichert scored three touchdowns and rushed for 120 yards as South River kept alive its hopes for a .500 season with a shutout victory.

South River's Jerrell Anthony rushed for 90 yards and Jesse Holian caught three passes for 60 yards.

Kleinrichert opened the scoring with a 15-yard run in the first quarter, and he added two more scores in the third quarter to pad the South River lead.

OLD MILL 49, SEVERNA PARK 25: Old Mill jumped out to a 28-7 halftime lead and held on to defeat the Falcons, who rallied after intermission to make the game respectable.

Severna Park scored 18 second-half points, including a 38-yard field goal from Ryan Norton, but the Patriots responded with 14 fourth-quarter points to put the game out of reach.

NORTH COUNTY 42, GLEN BURNIE 0: Antoine Drummond ran for four touchdowns as the host Knights blasted the Gophers.

Drummond gained 202 yards on 18 carries, while North County quarterback Pat Downey accoutned for his team's other two scores. Downey scored on a one-yard run and passed 27 yards to Deon Paige for the other.

Michael Johnson set the tone on defense for North County with two first-quarter interceptions. He also made four tackles and recovered a fumble.

AACS 27, ST. VINCENT PALLOTTI 7: James Anderson ran for 165 yards and a touchdowns, while Jon Hunter added a pair of touchdown to carry the Eagles to a lopsided victory.

Tim Lyons kicked two field goals, including a 41-yarder in the third quarter. Kyle Mellinger picked off a pass for the Eagles.

The victory clinched MIAA C Conference championship for the Eagles, who improved to 7-2.
