The annual field hockey triangle, formed by three of the state's best public-school teams - Severna Park, Broadneck and South River - whittled itself to the usual last week, and couldn't have been much closer.
While Broadneck delivered a 3-0 loss to Severna Park - quite an early-season message - it never got another chance. South River, which defeated Broadneck twice, drew the Falcons in the Class 4A East Region semifinals and bowed out after 80 minutes and five rounds of penalty strokes.
