We moved to a house here in Maryland last year and have a next door neighbor that has a dying tree in his yard near our property line and several of the dead branches extend into our yard. The whole tree sort of leans in our direction. I'm worried that during a storm this tree will fall in our direction and hit our house. The neighbor seems very nice but doesn't take very good care of his yard beyond mowing the grass.
What are the rules around here regarding this situation and what would happen if I were to cut the branches hanging in my yard from the dead tree myself? He has another tree in his yard that has branches...
