By DONNA L. COLE, For The Capital
Forget any preconceived notions of Marines you may have - you know, an intimidating combatant sporting a flattop, ooh-rah, bad-to-the-bone and all that stuff.

Andrew Turner shows off his 1901 West Apartment with his yellow Lab Splenda.
Just forget it and let's start fresh by painting an altogether different yet very impressive picture of a Marine Corps officer, his pooch and the place they call home.
Splenda, a yellow Lab, lives up to her name and greets us in the lobby of 1901 West in Annapolis with wags and kisses, more wags and pure sweetness.
Splenda's owner, Andrew Turner, has been living at this complex, which consists of three separate apartment buildings, since he arrived in...

Don't forget the maintenance issues, poor construction, and noise and vagrancy rolling in from West Street! I lived at 1901 from July 2008-July 2009, and although the complex appears nice, my roommate and I faced almost constant issues with the management because of the building's shoddy construction. The worst problem was that on at least six occasions, toilet water from the unit above ours poured in from the ceiling, alternating between both of our bathrooms. I'm glad Mr. Turner has had a positive experience living in the complex, but if potential renters read just a few of the reviews on ApartmentRatings.com, they will see how common the unhappy renting experience is at 1901.
