I voted Republican

Published 06/29/09

Despite new evidence presented every day that Global Warming is a myth, the Democratic Congress is set to vote for the biggest tax increase in American history. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman are pushing through cap-and-trade legislation that will cost the economy $161 billion in 2020, which is more than $1,870 annually for a family of four.

The purpose of cap-and-trade is to hike the cost of electricity and gas so Americans will use less. However, these costs to businesses will be passed on to consumers resulting in higher prices for every manufactured good. Consumers will cut back on spending, resulting in cuts in production, which means fewer jobs and higher unemployment. Some companies will move their operation overseas.

So for all of you who voted for "change you can believe in" I fear all you will have left is "change you...

Global Warming - 2009-07-02 08:15:12

I wouldn't say it's a myth, but I don't think we're the only cause of it, not even the main cause. If you were to look back at history, rather prehistory, the globe has done this throughout its existence. I will say that those of you who are trying to "Save the Planet", you are kidding yourselves. It's not the planet that needs saving, it's the people. You're just as likely to stop the earth from spinning as you are of "saving" the earth. Human arrogance. We make up a very, very small part of the planet. The entire population of the planet, if stood shoulder to shoulder, could fit in the state of Texas. A volcano erupts and emits more toxic fumes and CO2 than all of our emissions combined, ever! I truly believe that we're just another era of the planet's evolution. The planet knows what it's doing. Way better than we do. Who is Al Gore, anyway? A politician! Don't believe a damn word he is saying! The only reason that I'm trying to "Go Green" is because the utility companies have been raiding my wallet for too long. Go ahead, get your hybrid vehicles that will someday litter the landfills with incredibly toxic batteries and blindly give your hard-earned money to the politicians. It's for the good of our planet... Yeah right!

Well - 2009-07-02 05:27:04

About the only thing Obama is doing that would be against his campaign promise is raising taxes, otherwise, he is doing everything he claimed he was going to do during his protracted campaign for the Presidency. So, you get what you vote for.

Even though Fox News is the only National News Network I watch anymore, I wouldn't call it "fair and balanced" unless you are using the other Networks as your barometer. However, the main reason a large portion of people watch it is that it appears to be the only station willing to be critical of the Administration and its policies and take a hard stance against them. Isn't this what we ask of our press corps? I think it is a scary state of affairs when it seems there are so many American Media outlets unwilling to take the administration to task when our current economy is in the tank. We are in a recession, and this administration is going enact the largest tax increase in the history of the country, for programs that it seems the majority of the country aren't on board with. Shame on us for not educating ourselves.

FOX News - 2009-07-01 15:10:20

Aside from the catchiness of the "Fair and Balanced" tagline for FOX News. It really isn't accurate. If it was actually fair and balanced, conservatives would approve of their news coverage half the time, and liberals the other half. FOX is no more fair and balanced than MSNBC.

OOOPS - 2009-07-01 13:39:22

The write of this letter letter regurgitated the not-funny punch line he learned on Talk Radio. He was supposed to say, 'Change you can count'---as in : all you will have left is 'change you can count.'

Fox News - 2009-07-01 13:13:36

Fox news is the only news outlet that gives the true and balanced news.It is one of the very few news outlets that is not in nobama's pocket. The global warming truth is finally coming out in the open,it is bull! You are following Al Gore the pied piper of gloom and doom.If i made a hundred million dollars on a gloom and doom book,i would push it to.There is evidence disputing his facts and it will come out soon.Of course the mainstream media will not publish it because nobama has them in his pocket. It will be a outright miracle if this country gets thru the next four years the way things are going now.God help us all!

Misguided Legislation - 2009-06-29 17:40:11

As a nation we need clean, cheap energy -- not clean, expensive energy. I am a Democrat and think Congress is overplaying its hand. I fear cap and trade legislation will double our cost of energy over the years -- even faster for gasoline. Plus, unintended consequences will abound. The bill is too complicated, with too many moving parts. Why? There are 880 lobbyists registered to lobby on climate change and their fingerprints are all over the bill.

Cap and trade will enrich a new class of financial speculator at a cost of billions of dollars to American consumers. It will also drive-out manufacturing of every description. Even non-polluting Microsoft says it will move jobs overseas because cap and trade "makes U.S. jobs more expensive." Cap and trade is worse than a tax because only 15% of the proceeds from auctioned permits go into our national treasury.

And the kicker? We'll never even know if cap and trade ever worked.

If instead the United States had a national mandate to replace coal generation plants with natural gas and nuclear energy, plus if we replaced our commuter cars with battery-powered electric cars, we would drastically reduce our dependence on foreign oil and reduce CO2 emissions faster and beyond the proposed cap and trade targets.

Wow - 2009-06-29 16:35:26

"Despite new evidence presented every day that Global Warming is a myth" HUH??? It's time you started looking at some other channels besides Fox News...There is just too much to say to comment to this ignorant comment, but I also did here that there's overwhelming evidence to say that the world is flat.
