2 hurt in 7-vehicle accidentPublished 02/19/05
A 27-ton truck, sideswiped by a car yesterday in Crofton, careened out of control and crashed into a traffic pole before plowing into five vehicles, seriously injuring two people, county police said. Traffic signals and power lines rained down from the demolished pole onto Route 3, and the investigation and cleanup paralyzed traffic along the highway as well as on routes 50 and 450 nearby, state police said. Cpl. Kim Smith of the state police Annapolis barrack said there was a "humongous" backup for several hours.
