Blame it on "MacGyver."
Lisa Sarubbi was infatuated with the 1980s TV series about a resourceful secret agent. "I wanted to be MacGyver!" she said.
So much so that the then 20-something landlubber decided to buy a boat to live on, just like the fictional character. It didn't matter that she had no experience living on the water. If he could do it, she could do it, she reasoned. Plus, she figured it'd be an adventure. Looking back now, Ms. Sarubbi, 43, just smiles and shakes her head at her naivete.
