For Moira Plantier, a "lax" attitude really paid off. Lax as in lacrosse, that is.

She won a prize in teh statewide contest for young inventors. The 10-year-old Edgewater girl began playing about two years ago, but with no one in her neighborhood to practice with and no wall to throw against, it was hard to improve her ball handling. Rather than just resign herself to a career on defense, she put on her thinking cap and came up a unique device that allows her to hone her skills. Called the Pop 'N Catch Lacrosse Practice Attachment, it consists of an elastic cord tied to a lacrosse stick. One end of the cord is affixed to the stick, and the other is attached to a ball.
