Called mindfulness-based stress reduction, the program uses breathing, yoga and meditation to help participants learn to handle stress.
Mr. Mies has been trained in the program and is coordinating weekly sessions in the county. He said the techniques in the program have helped him make a variety of changes in his life.
He has done programs in the Washington area and just began his first local group on Wednesday with 18 participants. They will have eight more meetings.
