Ms. Polansky, who some have classified as a "Jewish" writer, has a Christmas tree in the living room of her Crownsville home. Her husband, Kevin Gallagher, is Catholic, she explains.
What's more, she admits she didn't become an observant Jew until after she got married. Her husband's faith caused her to delve more deeply into her own, she said.
And that's just where the contradictions start for the 49-year-old. There's also the matter of her books.
