Ebert in surgery again
Famed film critic Roger Ebert, who has suffered through a series of cancer surgeries, says he needs yet another.
The 65-year-old Chicago Sun-Times staffer was scheduled to undergo an unspecified procedure yesterday in Houston with the aim of fixing complications that have arisen from previous surgeries.
Mr. Ebert's operations have included the removal of a growth on his salivary gland and a tracheostomy, in which an incision is made in the windpipe to open an airway. The latter left him temporarily unable to speak.
