Q: I am going to be eligible for Medicare in October. I will retire in September and my health insurance will be discontinued by my company, which is small. I understand that I need to sign up for Medicare Part A and B, but I don't see the need to buy a Medigap policy right away.
I'm a fairly healthy individual and I don't anticipate using my health plan any more than I do right now. Why should I spend the extra money for supplemental insurance I might not need for a long time?
