Curtain rises on new theater troupe

Only insomniacs need apply for the kind of schedule Ron Giddings keeps.

The 27-year-old Severna Park resident serves as artistic director of Colonial Players, holds down a job waiting tables, and is completing a graduate degree in arts management. And ... oh, yes, he's formed his own theater company.

Standing O Productions premieres its first play, "On the Twentieth Century" at Anne Arundel Community College on Friday.

The musical, which won five Tony Awards, is set in 1932 aboard the fabled 20th Century Limited train, and centers around the efforts of a down-on-his-luck-producer desperately trying...
