Annapolis couple's wedding filmed for WE TV show

Cupid has been busy around town lately.

Just days after contest voters sent a couple from New York to Annapolis for their honeymoon, camera crews from WE TV were filming Saturday's wedding of Annapolis residents Maria Piazzola and Tom Bowman for the next season of "Platinum Weddings."

"(Annapolis) is just such a great location," said Sean Boyriven, who works with "Platinum Weddings" to pick the nuptials to be featured. "It's beautiful, it's historic. You know, not every story has to be pesamistic. If you want that, go watch MSN or NBC. We don't need a constant reminder of all the bad things happening in the world. I personally think its nice to see Annapolis getting some recognition.

So while we are in a historic election year, while troops are still being killed in Iraq, while the economy is in a recession, and while hard-working citizens in our own communities are struggling to simply pay their BGE bills, a story that boasts of "weddings that go above and beyond in elegance and extravagance" is featured here? Give me a break.
