Art for autism

It's still not easy for Claudine Intner to talk about her oldest son's autism.

Though 7-year-old Jacob has made great strides, the Cape St. Claire mother of three still tears up when discussing the subject, like how the diagnosis that came three years ago has impacted her family. Numerous specialists had previously told them his developmental difficulties definitely weren't related to autism.

"There's such a heavy weight to the label," she said earlier this week. "It wasn't just speech delay; something he would outgrow. I felt helpless."
