Q: What kind of medicines can affect the outcome of cataract surgery?
A: The two most important types of drugs that can have a significant impact on cataract surgery are anticoagulants and alpha adrenergic blockers.
Anticoagulants are drugs such as aspirin, Coumadin and Plavix. These medications are taken by patients to thin the blood and prevent clotting.
