Welcome to Christmas 2008, a holiday season in a down economy that has lots of parents thinking about downsizing their gifts. Not all local families fall into this category, but many are curbing their spending.
These parents generally fall into two categories: those who've decided on an across-the-board cost cap on gifts; and those who are forgoing presents for themselves and extended family (or limiting these purchases to stocking stuffers) in order to buy as much as possible for their children.
