Local woman writes book to help parents of babies with refluxPublished 03/05/09

Colleen Dugan — The Capital Jan Gambino, right, holds a copy of her new book, “Reflux 101: A Parent’s Guide to Gastroesophageal Reflux,” at the home of her colleague from Belvedere Elementary School, Amy Russ. Russ holds daughters Madelyn, 21 months, and Eliza, 4 months. Eliza has some reflux problems. "GERDMOM" is always at the ready with information about gastroesophageal reflux disease. Admittedly, it's not the most pleasant topic, but Gambino wants to be a lifeline for parents of children grappling with the disorder. She can provide advice, comfort and even lists of questions to ask a doctor. "It's kind of an odd subject, but it's a universal starter for a conversation," Gambino said with a chuckle.
