Presbyopia is the medical term for the natural loss of the eye's ability to focus at near over the years. Some people first notice this in their 40s or 50s when they start holding the page farther and farther from their eyes for better focus.
If you are naturally near-sighted (i.e. you need prescription glasses with a minus sign), you may notice it is easier to read when you take your glasses off. When these adjustments become burdensome or no longer helpful, there are several choices for correcting presbyopia.
