A: Medicare does not cover care provided outside the United States. There is a limited exception to that rule when medical care is provided on a cruise ship. Medicare might pay for medically-necessary services if both these conditions are met: 1) The provider is allowed, under law, to provide medical services on a cruise ship and 2) The ship is in a U.S. port or is no more than six hours away from a U.S. port when you receive services.
