A: This is a good question from one of our readers. Most ophthalmologists do not recommend cataract surgery until the best corrected visual acuity drops to 20/40 or worse. At this level a patient may start to have difficulty with reading and have problems seeing street signs when driving. The term "best corrected" means that there has been a check of the glasses...
