A smart, enthusiastic and athletic 17-year-old exchange student from Germany arrived in the United States one year ago to study at Broadneck High School and along the way just happened to win the Anne Arundel County Tennis Championship.

Teresa Fingerhut was virtually unbeatable at the high school level, losing only one match. She was invited to play in the county championship and won the title, beating four top players along the way. As a result of the win, she was invited to play in the regional championships which involved Anne Arundel, Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's counties. She fought her way to the finals of this...
