LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - It was the generosity of a Navy man that gave Arkansas-Little Rock its new arena. It was a scrappy, gritty Navy team that almost ruined the party. In front a crowd of 4,852, UALR held off the Midshipmen 61-57 in the new Jack Stephens Center last night. Stephens, an Arkansas native who graduate from the Naval Academy in 1946, donated most of the money for the on-campus arena that was officially christened against the Middies.
