Navy men's basketball coach Billy Lange is about midway through his second season in Annapolis and he has high hopes for his team. Maybe they are too high but that's the way coaches have to think. Lange, a couple of weeks shy of his 34th birthday, maintains a youthful enthusiasm that may prompt him to set impossible goals. That comes from knowing what he wants and dreaming that there is some way to get it. A good for instance is that after he coached his team to a 7-6 non-conference record, the first time since 2000-01 that a Navy team has had a winning record in its out-of-conference games.
