Navy slot back Zerbin Singleton has toiled for the majority of his career in the background while doing the dirty work of blocking in the triple-option offense and serving on special teams.
Suddenly, as his senior season winds to a close, Singleton is receiving recognition. Last Thursday night, the soft-spoken slot back received the Disney Wide World of Sports Spirit Award, which is given each year to college football's most inspiration figure.
