When organizers of the highly successful Holiday Bowl decided to take on another postseason event, they had no idea whether two college football games in the span of a week would fly in San Diego.
By far the biggest concern with launching the Poinsettia Bowl back in 2005 was that it might in some way detract from the Holiday Bowl, which had developed a sterling reputation during its 27-year history.

Three years into the experiment, the evidence shows that San Diego can support two bowl games held on either side of Christmas.
