SAN DIEGO - Former Navy football coach Paul Johnson viewed bowl games as a reward for a successful season. Based on that philosophy, Johnson didn't work the team too hard and tried to let the players enjoy the experience once the team arrived in the host city.
Newly named head coach Ken Niumatalolo holds the same viewpoint. With the players burdened by exams last week, Niumatalolo conducted crisp practices that lasted a little more than an hour.
