There are surprisingly few players from Maryland within the Naval Academy football program. The Midshipmen had seven in-state products on the 2007 roster, three times fewer than the number hailing from Texas.
Georgia (eight), Florida and Ohio (seven apiece) also have produced as many Navy football players as the Mids' home state. Five consecutive years of success has increased Navy's profile within the state and an increased emphasis on local recruiting has paid dividends.
