Billy Lange faced a major rebuilding effort when he took over the Navy men's basketball program.
The Midshipmen had suffered three straight losing seasons, getting progressively worse along the away. Navy's slide from perennial Patriot League contender to cellar dweller reached rock bottom in 2003-2004 with records of 5-20 overall and 2-12 in conference.
