Navy's bid for baseball title buoyed by balanced lineup

The way it used to be, keeping Navy's offense in check simply required pitching around a select few batters.

Fortunately for the Mids, it appears those days are over.

Built on strong pitching and not much else in recent years, Navy (32-23-1) will bring a more balanced squad into this weekend's Patriot League Championship series against Bucknell (24-22-2) at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium.

The best-of-three series will begin with an afternoon game tomorrow (3 p.m.). On Saturday, Game 2 will start at noon, with a deciding Game 3, if necessary, to be played 30 minutes following the conclusion of Game 2....
